Parent to Parent of Whatcom County presents Super Sitter Training, June 28-30, 10am-3:30pm at The Arc of Whatcom County’s Dan Godwin Community Center located at 2602 McLeod Rd, Bellingham.
This popular class is available for youth ages 13 and older and teaches basic baby-sitting skills along with skills caring for children, particularly for children with special needs. Attendees will enjoy the learning environment of the camp as they meet new friends. Included in the program is a full day of infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. It is recommended that participants have some prior baby-sitting experience.

Do you have a child with developmental delays or disabilities, but aren’t sure what services are oth ther to help your child? Have you heard about DDA services, but are not sure what they are or how to apply? Have you wanted to apply for DDA services but just haven’t gotten around to it yet? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this is a support meeting for you! Leslie Kivett, Eligibility Case resource Manager for the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) will join us to tell us about DDA services. September Monthly Parent Support Meeting is being held on Monday, September 11 from 7-8:30pm. Our Topic is Back to School. We will be discussing all things “Back to School”. We will be having a Q&A with education advocates, answering all your questions!
Down Syndrome Parent Support Meeting will be held Tuesday, September 19 5:30-7pm with a Topic of Behaviors. We will be discussing behavior challenged that may arise for someone with Down syndrome and address these concerns using a positive behavior approach.
October Monthly Parent Support Meeting is being help on Monday, October 9 7-8:30pm with a Topic of ‘Keeping your Special Needs Child Safe’. We will share resources and services to support your family keeping your child safe. Handouts will available to take home.
Autism Support Meeting will be held Wednesday, October 18th from noon-1:30pm. We will be discussing behaviors. Do you have a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder? Are you awaiting a diagnosis, suspecting or just wondering what Autism Spectrum Disorder looks like? Our meeting will provide support, educational, and resources for families. We will cover services, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and how to apply those practices to your child. Childcare is not available at this event.
